The X1 Enterprise Server is the heart of the X1 Enterprise Search Suite.
It automatically and transparently indexes content housed in multiple information repositories,
federates search results and delivers them through a single user interface. You get immediate
productivity gains because you have instant access to search results and can act on them immediately.
Robust Features for Fast and Flexible Searches
The X1 Enterprise Server:
- Accelerates your productivity while enforcing your information-security policies.
- Promotes highly scalable, unified searches in complex environments by providing built-in
tools for remote installation and management plus real-time performance monitoring.
- Enables you to modify saved searches, action buttons and custom menu items on the
Professional Client, and centrally distribute the modifications to any user at any time.
- Displays actionable search results as fast as you can type. Each result has search
terms highlighted so you can decide immediately what to access. Or you can refine
results on the fly by adding more search characters or terms.
- Maps to your existing Windows® enterprise security permissions and locks down
Client settings to allow only authorized files, shares, or folders to be indexed.
- Requires minimal IT resources for deployment and maintenance, plus remote
management utilities ease complex administrative jobs.
X1 Enterprise Server Components
The X1 Enterprise Server consists of multiple components that collectively deliver a unified, actionable search solution. You
can easily configure, deploy and administer these components using the centralized X1 Cluster Manager.
- X1 Connector Engine runs the X1 Content Connectors for authenticating and connecting the
server to key data repositories, such as documents, files and email.
- X1 Index Engine indexes all documents received from the Connector Engine
while simultaneously responding to queries from the Federation Engine.
- X1 Federation Engine receives queries from X1 Clients and compiles responses from all Index Engines in a cluster.
- X1 External Query Engine receives queries from X1 Clients and queries indexes on remote data repositories and compiles
responses back to the Client. This allows you to query against already created indexes on third-party repositories without having to re-index that data with X1.
- X1 System Management Engine silently handles system administration, remote installation,
performance monitoring, logging and other tasks for all other components.
X1 Cluster and Deployment Managers
Improving performance and capacity is as simple as drag-and-drop with the X1 Cluster Manager. For example, if you
want more indexing capacity and performance during peak capacity without buying more hardware, you can add an additional Connector Engine using the drag-and-drop interface.
To deliver faster query results, support more concurrent queries or index more data, you can easily add Index Engines. You can also:
- Remotely configure and install each component in the X1 Enterprise Server.
- Monitor the performance and activities of the entire cluster.
- Quickly scale X1 to support even the largest enterprise deployments.
