The current version is v6.7.3 (Build 4054dh). You can check your version number by going to the Help Menu and clicking on About X1.
How do I upgrade to the latest build?
Depending on when you made your purchase, there are four paths to product upgrade:
- If you are a current subscriber to X1 Software Assurance, simply log into your Support Portal account and click on the appropriate upgrade link. If you have not subscribed to X1 Software Assurance, but purchased X1 within the past 90 days, you can access the support portal using the login information you received with your product purchase.
- If you have not subscribed to X1 Software Assurance, but purchased X1 during the past 12 months, you are eligible to add X1 Software Assurance to your account to get 12 added months of access to support and upgrades. Use the following link to add a subscription to X1 Software Assurance.
- If you have not subscribed to X1 Software Assurance, but purchased X1 during the past 24 months, you may be eligible for an upgrade discount. If you don't remember your purchase date, simply use the Lost Registration Code form to retrieve the pertinent information. Then use the following link to access your upgrade discount.
- If you have not subscribed to X1 Software Assurance and purchased X1 more than 24 months ago, then you are not eligible for a free or discounted upgrade.
What is included with my X1 Professional Client purchase?
With your X1 purchase, you receive:
- A perpetual use license, which is a license to use the purchased X1 product for as long as that product continues to work on your existing or current computer system.
Your license is active as of the date of purchase. To “unlock” the application, enter the registration code provided to you at the time of purchase.
- A 90-day trial subscription to X1 Software Assurance, which includes access to customer and technical support, product updates, and new product releases for a period of 90 days from the date of purchase.
Product updates and Customer Support available through X1 Software Assurance are made available via the X1 Support Portal.
X1 will not accept my registration code. Why?
With the release of X1 Professional Client version 6.2 in March of 2008, X1 introduced a registration format change, moving from a 13-digit to a 16-digit registration code format. The older 13-digit codes continued to be valid forms of registration while the new registration format was being introduced and fully integrated into the product. With the release of X1 version 6.2.4, this integration process is complete.
Beginning with the release of version 6.2.4, X1 will only accept registration codes that are 16 characters in length. If you have an older 13-character registration code, you will not be able to unlock v6.2.4 or later releases. Continuing to install the product without a valid 16 digit code will cause X1 to install as a 14-day trial.
Can I use X1 Professional Client with my AOL, Yahoo!®, Hotmail®, or other Web-based email account?
Yes and no. There are several versions of X1 Professional Client, and they work with the most popular email programs available today (Outlook, Outlook Express, Lotus Notes and Thunderbird). If your email account allows you to use one of these programs to access your mail, then the version of X1 Professional Client designed for that program will be able to scan and index the mail. Usually, this access is done through a POP setting. Please contact the customer service department of your Web-based email account for help in using one of these programs with their service.
Please note that X1 Professional Client does not currently support IMAP and Hotmail.
Is X1 Professional Client available for the Mac® or Linux®?
No. At this time, X1 Professional Client only works on the Windows platform.
What are all of these results? I don't see any relationship to the search terms I entered.
X1 Professional Client indexes the content of your email, files, attachments, and Outlook contacts. When you start entering a search term, we find all instances of those terms within the documents and files that have been indexed. Because of this, you may not immediately see how a file or document relates to your term.
If you select a file from the list on the left, a preview of the document will appear in the window on the right with the search term(s) highlighted. Take a closer look, and you will quickly find that the file contains the search term(s) you entered.
X1 Professional Client also indexes file attributes (file name, subject, etc.). X1 Professional Client will include attributes in its search results. In other words, the results you see may not have the search term in the content of the file but rather in one of the file's attributes. Check the columns at the top of the left pane for highlighted hits.
