Click here X1® Professional Client v6.2 (Build 3591) (Released Tuesday March 25, 2008) New Features Modified Installer to allow setting X1 as the Default Search Engine in Windows Vista SP1 The X1 installer will register the X1 client as a desktop search engine. The X1 installer will allow user to define the X1 client as the default desktop search engine. As the default desktop search engine, the user can send queries to X1 via the Start menu search box, Windows Explorer, Windows Logo Key + F, and the F3 key. Once the query is sent, the X1 client opens with search results corresponding to the query, based on the X1 query syntax. The query will include a "crumb" when issued from Windows Explorer. X1 will ignore subqueries (windows saved searches), inputlocale, keywordlocale, stackedby and displayname parameters. Other applications such as Outlook, Office 2007 and third party apps will continue to query the Windows Search engine by default. Bundled X1 Web Services Plugin The plugin allows users to index RSS 2.0 and ATOM 1.0 feeds. To add a feed, open the "Select Sources" dialog, select the RSS plugin, and click on the add button. On the Add Source Dialog, enter a URL location for the RSS/ATOM feed, update the default source name, and click OK. If the feed is successfully added, X1 will automatically create a saved search with the source name and index the feed contents. Feeds are indexed every 60 minutes by default. You may change the default indexing schedule for every feed in the options menu. Index and federate your favorite feeds into a single, actionable view with the RSS WebServices plugin. Added icon for X1i plugin files. Enhancements New Registration Key Mechanism New registration key mechanism allows X1 to limit future upgrades. Disable X1 Professional Client After 30-day Trial Updated reminder dialog to indicate X1 will expire at the end of the 30-day trial. Updated reminder dialog to allow user to add registration key. Implemented modal dialog that will display the trial has expired after the 30-day trial. Disable "Show Banner" option during trial. Added Support to Change X1 Shortcut Name and Path. To change the X1 shortcut name set the SHORTCUT_FILE variable in the installer command line or a MST transform. The default value for the X1 shortcut name is "X1.lnk". To change the X1 shortcut path set the SHORTCUT_PATH variable in the installer command line or a MST transform. The default value for the X1 shortcut path is "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs". Deleted emailbody.html and email.html files from data directory after X1 exits. Separated Outlook indexing options and Group Policy Objects for "Ignore Public Folders" and "Ignore Additional Mailboxes". Optimized X1 hibernation process for faster shutdown. Bug Fixes Email Fixed a bug that prevented the action "Copy to Folder" from working when running Outlook in uncached mode. Fixed a bug that caused the date received to update on Outlook emails when using the "Move" post-search action. Fixed a bug that caused email index to disappear due to a failure to load Outside In 8.2 libraries. Fixed a bug that displayed an incorrect error message when email attachment contains a 0kb file. User Interface Fixed a bug that prevented the "All Searches" list to preserve after re-starting X1. Fixed a bug that caused errors when loading X1 from XML. Fixed a bug that caused viewer installation failures with Outside In 8.2 libraries. Fixed a bug that displayed an Outside In splash screen at first startup. Crashes Fixed a bug that caused X1 to crash when cancelling the add source process. X1® Professional Client v6.1 (Build 3575) (Released Thursday January 31, 2008) New Features Support for Lotus Notes 8.0 email and contacts. Preview/PSA support for X1 Server Plugin Exchange searches. New Group Policy Object Policy: Allow Indexing of Certain Network Shares. This policy allows administrators to define a list of certain network shares to be indexed. This policy will NOT override the "Allow Network Share Indexing" policy. This policy will override deployment manager settings and the "Prevent Indexing of Certain Network Shares" policy. Enhancements Oracle Outside In 8.2 Upgrade. Improvements for support of Microsoft Office 2007 Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Viewing support for more Office Art, including line styles, fills, and shapes. Streamlined Federation and Source dialogs. Added option to add a data source after user adds a plugin. Added a finish button to the "Federation..." dialog to make column chooser step optional. Removed federation steps from the "Add Source" process. Added "Columns...." option to the right click menu for searches. Added "Federation...." option to the Tools menu. Added "Save Username/Password" check box option to the "Add Source" dialog. Added "Edit Source" right click menu item for plugin source saved searches. Improved list pane painting performance. Updated language on the crash logs dialog box. Updated language on the optional usage statistics dialog box. Updated installer to detect required VB script dlls are properly installed. Optimized file incremental indexing process to handle failed content indexed file cases more efficiently. Optimized post search action applicability algorithm for Mozilla email items. Added "Search Rules" at the bottom of the preview pane home pages. Bug Fixes Email Fixed a bug with the Symantec Offline Vault scanner that caused X1 to crash when modifying indexing options during indexing. Fixed a bug that caused the Open->Selected Items action to not work properly. Fixed a bug that caused the Copy action to update the Received Date in Outlook. Files Fixed a bug with the file scanner that caused the scanner to re-start when a user cancelled the "More Indexing Options" dialog. Deployment Manager Fixed a bug with the Deployment Manager that set the scanners on a paused state after upgrade. Fixed a bug with the Deployment Manager that prevented upgrades on custom builds where original msi installer is not available. X1® Professional Client v6.0 (Build 3565) (Released Thursday October 25, 2007) New Features Client installer is certified for Windows Vista. New search experience for remote search engine queries. Enables support to query remote search engines via X1 custom plugins. User must click on the Search button to obtain results (NOT a fast-as-you-type search experience). New search homepages for remote search engine queries with instructions on new search experience. Limited number of results returned from the remote search engine. New navigation buttons allow users to navigate through search results. Status pane in bottom of the preview pane indicates the search attributes and results status. Modified X1 Server search so users must click on the Search button to obtain results. By default, the X1 Server search will display a blank results list, with the following message: "The current search has no results to display." Plugin manager. Interface allows custom X1 plugins to extend the functionality for the X1 client. Interface allows users to enable/disable plugins. Interface allows users to set options for plugins. New data federation behavior. Added new federation dialog to allow users to federate (merge) searches together through right-click menu. Federated search dialog will create new searches. Existing searches will remain unchanged. The new federated search will include fields from the merged searches. X1 Server searches will NOT automatically federate with X1 client searches (email, files, etc). X1 Server searches can be federated with any X1 client searches (email, files, etc). New post-search-action applicability behavior. The new post search action (PSA) applicability behavior allows post search actions for federated searches. On single selection of a result in the results pane the appropriate PSA will be enabled. On multiple selection of results across different data schemas the appropriate PSA will be enabled but will only act on the results that are applicable. Enhancements Implemented a virtual memory check that prevents crashes while merging index. Extended the "Copy to PST" PSA to allow users to save emails into new PST files. Enhanced "Copy to PST" action to allow users to copy emails to password-protected Outlook PST files. Improved X1 client startup time by 20%. Re-factored content indexing algorithm for improved performance on large indexes. Implemented new "Export to Excel" dialog. Added expand/collapse controls in the preview pane for emails with multiple attachments. Optimized CPU utilization on attachment thumbnails in the preview pane. Bug Fixes Email Fixed a bug that prevented X1 from opening LN attachments with accented character in the name. Files Fixed a bug that caused the files real-time-indexing option to delay incremental file scans. Implemented a fix that allows X1 to index windows folders inside zip files appropriately and enable the correct post search actions. Implemented a fix that allows X1 to skip files that cause the text extractor process to hang. Fixed a bug that caused the reported file size in X1 search results to differ from actual file size. Deployment Manager Fixed a bug that prevented changes to the Quick Launch Shortcuts from being preserved after custom installation. Implemented a fix that checks for valid paths in the installation path field. Other Fixed a bug that caused buttons in the "Select folders to scan" screen to be partially covered by the window border in Windows Vista. Fixed a bug that caused "outsidex.ocx" to not be removed from "C:\Users\All Users\Stellent\" directory after uninstall in Windows Vista. Fixed a bug that caused X1 to crash when User Access Control is on and user tries to "Cancel" UAC warning window, in Windows Vista. Optimized merge-with-delete indexing process to obtain performance improvements on large indexes. X1® Professional Client v5.6.4 (Build 3470) (Released Thursday May 17, 2007) Enhancements Implemented 30 day trial for the following features with trial expiration reminders: Indexing of network file shares. Indexing of Outlook emails under Exchange uncached mode. Indexing of Outlook public folders. Indexing of Outlook external PSTs. Indexing of Outlook delegate mail boxes ("Ignore Public Folders and additional mailboxes" option must be unchecked). Indexing of Lotus Notes emails and contacts. Implemented ability to permanently enable the following features on a client with a valid registration key: Indexing of network file shares. Indexing of Outlook emails under Exchange uncached mode. Indexing of Lotus Notes emails. Indexing of Outlook public folders. Indexing of Outlook external PSTs. Implemented new Group Policy Objects: AllowUpgradeCheck allows/disables checking for Upgrades on startup when enabled/disabled. AllowUploadingCrashData allows/disables uploading crash data when enabled/disabled. Re-designed X1 Deployment Manager installer Installer includes a base X1 Professional Client and documentation. Installer prevents installation if the X1 Professional Client is already installed in the system. Installer prevents installation if user does not have administrator privileges. Added a new checkbox for "Allow uncached Exchange indexing" in the "Application Options" groupbox for the X1 Deployment Manager. Added a new checkbox for "Allow network share indexing" in the "Application Options" groupbox for the X1 Deployment Manager. Added a new checkbox for "Disable all network traffic after install" in the "Application Options" groupbox for the X1 Deployment Manager. Removed option screen to select the base client installer. Bug Fixes Email X1 Professional Client MSI installer re-designed to run under Vista Standard User Context. Prevent "push to client" searches from loading into the X1 client running in "Admin mode". Fixed X1 installer issue in Windows Vista that caused installer windows to lose focus. Fixed X1 client minimization/maximization issues in Windows Vista. Crashes Fixed "Access violation at address 7E8F0D7A in module 'mshtml.dll' crash in the X1 client. Fixed "Access violation at address 0073267C in module 'X1.exe'. X1® Professional Client v5.6.3 (Build 3453) (Released Thursday April 5, 2007) Enhancements Upgraded Stellent Viewer Technology and Content Extractor to version 8.1.9. Upgrade enables support for Office 2007 documents (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) on Windows Vista Ultimate. Bug Fixes Email Fixed a bug in X1 that caused Lotus Notes email indexing to use high amounts of memory resources. Fixed a bug in X1 that caused performance degradation in X1 email and file indexing (Vista OS only). Fixed a bug in X1 that caused the client to perform preview search term highlighting when the preview pane is turned off. Fixed a bug in X1 that prevented users from adding PST for indexing (Vista OS only). Fixed a bug in X1 that caused the "Go to Folder" action to perform an Open operation (Vista OS only). Fixed a bug in X1 that caused the client to stop working when creating a new Contact, Task or Calendar item (Vista OS only). Fixed a bug in the X1 Deployment Manager that prevented plug-ins from installing with the custom installer. Fixed a bug in the X1 Deployment Manager that by-passed required UAC authentication dialogs (Vista OS only). Fixed a bug in the X1 Deskbar that prevented queries from launching in the client (Vista OS only). Removed redundant code in Lotus Notes scanner used to initialized default databases. Indexing is disabled by default and needs to be enabled via a separate installer (contact X1 to obtain installer). Symantec Offline Vault databases are detected and added as Outlook PST folders on first run. Symantec Offline Vault are indexed on the same schedule as Outlook. Symantec Offline Vault items display "Outlook Offline Vault" in the "Connector Type" column. Users may de-select individual Symantec Offline Vault folders via the Options/Indexing/Select Folders to Scan dialog. Users may turn off Symantec Offline Vault via an Options/Indexing/Outlook Options checkbox option. The following Post Search Actions are not supported with KVS results: delete, go to folder, mark read, and mark unread. Symantec Offline Vault indexing may be configured via the Deployment Manager. System Administrators may disable Symantec Offline Vault indexing via Group Policy Objects. Multi Locale Query (MLQ) Support. MLQ Support enables users to configure numbers and dates formatting in system regional settings in the results list. MLQ Support enables users to search for numbers using their current format, and dates using one of many pre-defined formats, and get results for numbers and dates that don't necessarily match those formats. IFilter text extraction support. X1 detects installed IFilters on startup and utilizes them for text extraction by default. Stellent text extraction is used for file formats not supported by installed IFilters. The "Indexing Status" column indicates if the item was indexed with IFilter or Stellent. System Administrators may disable individual or all IFilter text extraction via Group Policy Objects. Implemented list of default file types that are not indexed with IFilter by defaults. List includes ZIP files. System Administrators may override default list of file types excluded from IFilter text extraction by enabling the Group Policy Objects policy. Enhancements Enhanced Lotus Notes Domino database connection support. On first run X1 will detect and load all local, replica and Domino databases installed in the Lotus Notes client - except Domino databases that correspond to a local replica. X1 will not allow indexing of both a replica and corresponding Domino database in a single session. Users may change the default indexing setting to index the Domino database instead of the corresponding replica via the Options/Lotus Notes/Select Databases to scan. Updated Group Policy Objects to allow system administrators to prevent indexing of Domino database instead of preventing the action. Enhanced error handling for Lotus Notes databases with local access protection. Enabled "Forward" post search action for contacts. Updated Lotus Notes Best Practices section. Internet Explorer 7 support. Users with Internet Explorer 7 can preview results in X1. Users with Internet Explorer 7 can play media files in X1. Updated Yahoo Toolbar installer with Internet Explorer 7 support. Feature Trial. The feature trial enables new X1 features to be added to the X1 client in a time trial mode. Symantec Offline Vault indexing 30 day trial installer will enable the feature for 30 days (contact X1 to obtain this installer). Five days before the 30-day trial ends the user will be notified the feature trial will expire. Users can purchase a feature license from X1 to enable the trial feature permanently. User Interface Updated the default setting for "carry search terms over between searches" to require clicking the "Shift" key. Added a warning in the Outlook options when a user is running in uncached exchange mode. Added XML (.xml) and Flash File (.swf) file types to the default content indexing list. Removed erroneous X1 server process messages events sent to the Event Viewer. Bug Fixes Email Fixed a bug that prevented X1 from replying/forwarding Lotus Notes for read-only databases. Fixed a bug that prevented drag and drop of Lotus Notes attachments from the X1 client to other applications. Fixed a bug that caused X1 to lose the Lotus Notes database locations when upgrading the X1 client. Fixed a bug that caused X1 to consume high CPU when indexing Lotus Notes databases in certain situations. Fixed a bug that prevented X1 from opening LN attachments with accented character in the name. Files Fixed a bug in the X1 client that prevented users from deleting zip files from the X1 interface. Fixed a bug in the X1 client that caused accented characters in locally indexed files names to display incorrectly. Fixed a bug in the X1 client that interrupted indexing when encountering files with no extension. User Interface Fixed a bug in the X1 client that prevented the attachments preview pane from updating properly in some cases. Fixed a bug in the X1 client that caused the loss of post search actions upon upgrades from version 5.2.1 to 5.5 builds and higher. Fixed a bug in the X1 client that caused server saved searches in the EC to not display properly if their names contain Latin-1 characters. Fixed a bug in the X1 client that prevented the results pane to display special symbols from German, French, Spanish and Italian. Installer/Deployment Manager Fixed a bug in the X1 installer that prevented X1 from removing the "resources" directory upon uninstall. Fixed a bug in the X1 deployment manager that prevented favorite searches to be preserved upon upgrades. Fixed a bug in the X1 client that prevented the search refinement pane to hide in deployment manager custom builds. Fixed a bug in the X1 client that prevented custom file folder selections to be saved during upgrades. Fixed a bug in the X1 client that prevented the "Keep copies of emails in index" option to be saved during upgrades. Fixed a bug in the X1 client that prevented the preview pane position and column widths to be saved during upgrades. Crashes Fixed a crash in the X1 client generated by range search logic when building an index.
